Discord with Discord

Submitted by YK on Sat, 06/22/2024 - 8:55pm

I'm having trouble posting in Discord.  It keeps asking me to "verify and claim account", but then indicates that my email is already recognized and then doesn't give me any other options.  I don't recall my password, and there is no option to reset it.  I then went into Discord separately from the NYCC site and reset my pass word there, but still having the same issues when I try to go in to the NYCC version.  Can someone please let me know how I can access the NYCC Discord.  btw, I'm using the web version, as i refuse to download another app on my phone.  I also can't reach the Board with this question on Discord - as it won't even let me do that - which is very frustrating.

Japan Bike Tour Company Recommendations

Submitted by YK on Sat, 06/22/2024 - 8:37pm

Hello -

I'm planning a bike trip to Japan in 2025 and am looking for an affordable, but good (dependable, organized, etc.) bike tour company.  Anyone have any experience with tour companiest that cover the region?  I'm looking for an alternative to Backroads - whose price is quite expensive.  I've looked at Trek and Spice Roads, so if anyone has any experience with these companies - would really apprecite your comments.

Thanks -

Yvette

How/where do you recycle old bike bags/cases?

How/where do you recycle old bike bags/cases?  I have one that I purchased 4-years ago on sale.  Never used it.  I went to use it this past Saturday and discovered that one of the rivets was broken, making the bag unusable.

Hence the previous question about recommendations.

Anyhow, I don't want to just throw the bag out, I would rather recycle it.

I did reach out to the manufacturer about getting the fixed.  They sent me a link (https://evocsports.us/products/btbpro-rivet-kits) to the parts I need, however those parts are out of stock.  I emailed asking when they expect to have the parts back in stock.  The part has been discontinued, like the bag.  I have been googl

Road/Gravel Bag for Shipping/Flights

Submitted by mhsimkin on Sun, 06/16/2024 - 7:10pm

Hi:

I am looking for recommendations on a bag to purchase to take a bike with me when I travel.  The bag needs to survive either being shipped or being in the belly of a plane.

I am leaning towards either a hard case or a combination case (both hard and soft).  Ideally, the least amount of disassembly possible.  Taking the wheels off, no issue; removing the saddle and/or seat post, no issue; potentially open to removing the stem or handlebars. Removing the rear derailiur not going to happen.

Thank you for your thoughts.

When I used to live in Manhattan, I simply took the subway to that popular spot for start of many rides to Long Island.

But now I no longer live in Manhattan, it's more convenient to drive to the start. I figure there may be others who had done it often and could offer suggestions as to where I should go looking for parking nearby? That would save me going around in circles endlessly looking for parking in the morning.

Thanks
