2 Rons' Long Island Gold Coast Trifecta

Wednesday, October 12, 2022 09:15 AM

Long Island North Shore/Gold Coast Route.

Gold Coast Trifecta, as we will visit Morgan's Island, Centre Island, and Sagamore Hill.

We'll head north from Westbury towards Glen Cove, Dosoris (Morgan's) Island and Prybil Beach. Next it's on to Bayville and a beautiful run out to Centre Island.

Lunch is in Oyster Bay. (Mile 31 or 44; group's choice).

Sagamore Hill, Teddy Roosevelt's former Summer Home, is a nice climb we'll be doing.

We'll finish up with  climbs up Mill Hill (12% average grade, 185 feet elevation gain over .28 miles) and Clock Tower Lane (short, but sweet).

Take the 8:28 am train out of Penn Station that is scheduled to arrive at  9:11 am in Westbury. Return is also from Westbury LIRR.

The ride is 58 miles with 2900 feet of climbing, so not flat.

Please arrive with your tires well pumped, 2 spare tubes, air supply, pocket food (especially if we elect the later lunch stop), and, of course, a smile :-)
