Early A Laps -- Prospect Park

Join us in Brooklyn for 6+ laps of Prospect Park. We meet at the western tip of the grassy triangle in Prospect Park near the Grand Army Plaza entrance to the park (see attached image for a map). One lap warmup pace, 7 laps at speed, and then two optional cooldown laps. We meet up at Winner in the Park when they open at 730a for coffee afterwards.

Speed will be largely determined by who arrives to laps — we may split into a few smaller groups to accomodate those who want to push a challenging A23+ pace and those who want to take it at a more reasonable A21 pace. These laps are full drop and are meant to be a compelling way to improve your fitness.

Pacelining skills are required due to the higher riding speeds and dense park population — these laps are not recommended as a first time pacelining experience or those looking to just hammer it. We prioritize smooth & safe laps over speed; the park is a shared space and we have a responsibility to allow others to use it safely.

Before You Ride

  • Make sure your bike is in GOOD working order.
  • Pump up tires to the pressure specified on the sidewall.
  • Bring essentials: helmet, 2 spare tubes, pump, patch kit, 2 water bottles, pocket food, ID, and cash (credit optional).
  • Eat a good breakfast consisting of carbohydrates and proteins.

Bicycle helmets are required head attire for all NYCC Club rides.

Earphones are not allowed while riding. Aerobars are not allowed while riding.

If you signed up and find you cannot make the ride, please remove yourself and open the slot for others.
