What are the routes like?  Are there Hills?
Riders have a choice of 4 routes ranging from a hilly and challenging century to a scenic and relaxing 25 mile ramble.   None of the routes are flat!  Be prepared for some climbing:  2,600 vertical feet on the 50-mile route; 3,600’ on the 65-mile route and over 5,700’ on the century.  The 25-mile route is not very hilly, but there is one big hill before you return to New York

Note: ridewithgps.com files will be made available 3-5 days prior to event, here on this page.

I’m a slower rider.  Should I attempt the century?

The century is a challenge with plenty of hills!  Ambitious slower riders must check-in at 7:00 a.m., hit the road and keep moving!   Limit your time at rest stops and keep an average pace of 11 mph.
But if in doubt, why not enjoy the 65 mile route?    It’s a beautiful ride with its own challenges, plus you’ll have time to enjoy New York Cycle Club’s hospitality at our well-stocked rest stops and Finish Line Festival.

I’m a newer rider.  Should I attempt the 25 mile route?
If you have previously done 20 mile rides with some uphills then you should be able to handle the 25 mile route.   Just take your time and take it easy.
Consider signing up for the escorted 25 mile ride, led by experienced New York Cycle Club ride leaders.  But space is limited so register early.

Will directions be provided and will there be leaders or guides?
Cue sheets with distances and all turns will be provided at the start.  All routes will be well marked, but it is advisable to carry a cue sheet in case you miss a turn.
Marshals will be located along all routes to provide any assistance you need.
The only escorted ride is our 25 mile route.   Space is limited so register early!
SAG  (Support and Gear) is also available for riders in need of assistance.  The phone # for SAG support will be listed on the cue sheets.

What else do I need to know?

  • All riders must wear a helmet.
  • Cycle safely and adhere to state cycling laws and rules of the road.
  • We suggest you carry identification and any pertinent medical information with you at all times.
  • Bicycles should be in good working order.
