February 12, 2005. The curtains were unfurled and the public began to flock to the park in huge numbers.

Some cyclists continued to do laps, but how effectively can one ride with so many tourists in the park? Pedestrians strolled on the park drive oblivious to the normal activities of the park, taking in all that orange.

For some the park represented an opportunity for advertising.

A NYCC member wearing his NYCC jacket! It turned out that this was Sheamus Cullen on his way to the boathouse for a club ride riding his brand-spanking-new Specialized bicycle.

NYCC Webmaster, Timothy McCarthy, and his brother in law, Ron Vincent, examine the connections of the vinyl tubing to the base.

A central bolt (not seen) holds the gate to the base and four bolts at the corners of the plate attached to the bottom of each vinyl tube upright, allow for leveling. Very neatly done!

The curtains performed as expected, stirring and flapping with whatever breeze wafted through the park.

The Gates proved to be an event for the whole family.
