The graduation ride done, everyone darted home to shower, throw on fresh set of clothes and then rush back out to the West Side Brewery for a graduation celebration. Here Timothy, wearing the Maglia Rosa given to him by the participants, congratulates Michael Casey.

The program continued with lots said about each participant. Ellen Thomas (left) stands for her turn.

Mark Loftis, presented Ellen with a series of Thomas the Train books, this one: “Catch Me, Catch Me!”

David Bradley didn't finish the program due to an injury but remained dear to our hearts. He received a Purple Heart and our hopes that we'll see him out on the road again soon.

Tuesday, June 14, 2005. The NYCC held it’s annual SIG Graduation. Diplomas were handed out to all those A-SIG Classic participants who showed up. Left to right: Ellen Thomas, behind her Barry Myrvold, Marni Aaron, Richard Hernandez, Jody Sayler, Catherine Bent, Timothy McCarthy, Mark Loftis, Hector Ramon and Christy Guzzetta.

Our final shot: Michael Casey at Bear Mountain—with the A-19 SIG? He earned his nickname, "Nails," in spades on graduation day when a mishap in Stoney Point left his rear wheel nearly unrideable. He left his group in search of a bicycle shop and zig-zagged across the countryside eventually getting the help he needed back at the bike shop in Piermont. He then determinedly rode back up to Bear Mountain (hence meeting up with the A-19) and completed the graduation ride solo. How many miles did he get in that day? Sheesh. It’s hard work living up to those nicknames.
