The spectacular view of the unspoiled alpine scenery of Many Glaciers Park. It’s also often referred to as the “Switzerland of North America.”

The weather can change quickly here. We run into a light mist on our way at Many Glaciers Hotel for lunch.

The dramatic setting of Mt. Gould and its many glaciers.

Glacier National Park is also Bear Country. Be advised that all bears have their own personal space requirements, which vary depending on their mood. Each will react differently and it’s behavior can’t be predicted. Also, keep in mind that they can reach speeds of up to 30+ mph for a short burst.

Since we were approaching Bear territory, our guides made sure that we make some noises. Bears will usually move out of the way if they hear people approaching. But instead of making noises, we sang a gripping rendition of “Rawhide” over and over again as we nearly fell of our bikes cracking up.

A lone adult black bear tracking through the park as it slowly moves out of our way. The vast majority of bear attacks have occurred because people have surprised a bear. In this type of situation the bear may attack as a defensive maneuver.
