Neile Weissman...Volunteer of the Month

Many will be shocked to find, when the day of judgment nears,

That there's a special place in Heaven, set aside for volunteers.

Furnished with big recliners, satin couches and footstools for a king.

A finger snap will bring cool drinks, gourmet food, rare treats and everything.

You wonder, "Who'll work and serve these privileged few and reward them for their worth?"

Why, all those who reaped the benefits, and not once volunteered here on Earth

Our Club – look at the rides page, look at the events, look at the weekend trips.  We are populated with individuals who give of their time, energy, heart and soul for us.  They do it to “pay it forward” – to bring joy to our fellow members.   We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful volunteers in our Club.  They are our success.

One time we had a great July 4th weekend at West Point – our members looked forward to that weekend for much of the year. Things changed, the weekend lost its appeal, and the event petered out.  But the holiday is a great time of celebration, the season a great time to ride. One of our members volunteered to replace the July 4th weekend at West Point with another that would bring just as much joy – maybe even more - and friendship and great cycling.

The idea started off slow –only a small number attended that first year. The weekend was tweaked, refined, and made better the second year.  A few more came that second year.  Made better and better and better ‘till 2017 when 60 - maybe more - went on a great holiday weekend in a spot with perhaps the greatest cycling we have access to.

The individual I am referring to, who has volunteered for all of us, who has made the New Paltz weekend a foundation event our calendar . . . .

Mr. Neile Weissman, you are our July volunteer of the month.

Thank you and congratulations!
