B-SIG 2014 Graduation

To the B-SIG Graduates

First, congratulations on getting through the 10 weeks.  Including Deep Westchester and Cold Spring, you have plenty to be proud of.

Second, just as college is to life, SIG graduation marks the point you are now regarded as assets, gaining you entree to all the best things the Club has to offer:  Memorial Day Weekend in the Berkshires; the July 4th classic at West Point; our signature Escape New York in September; and our "social event of the year", the 9W Clean Up Ride in October.

But aside from Club-sponsored events, the ecore of what we do always been the hundreds of member-initiated rides that go out throughout the year.  Training laps around Central Park ... shopping rides to Acme Smoked Fish ... back-by-noons to Piermont ... "death rides" up Delaware Water Gap ... and studded tire rides over dirt-snow-and-ice roads in Putnam.

Whatever your poison, there's a group going out.  On Saturday, we had 13 members do the Ronkonoma 200K.  They are my heroes!

This is what this Club is about ... and that's where you come in.

  • Just keep riding.  Expand your vocabulary.  Our Ride Library has hundreds of routes that leverage our relationships with Metro-North, NJ Transit and LIRR.
  • Help out by co-leading.  Brian, our B-Rides Coordinator, will reach out to pair up with experienced leaders.
  • Then, when you feel the calling, lead your own.  Involve your fellow Siggies.  You'll find plenty of support within the Club. This is why we have hold the SIG every year since Christy Guzzetta started it in 1986.  It's why dozens of "anciens" joyfully commit their time to make you the best you can be.

It's an enduring tradition of paying forward.

Welcome to New York Cycle Club.
