New York Bike Politics with StreetsPAC’s Eric McClure

Why doesn’t every NYC bridge allow bicycles? Why does NYPD issue more red light tickets to cyclists than to motorists? Why do motorists and mass transit users get to deduct commuting costs on their taxes, but not cyclists? And why is a DMV operator’s license--to put it bluntly--too often mistaken for a license to kill?

Behind every needless risk and indignity that cyclists bear, there lies a political process that explains why it is so.  As Executive Director of StreetsPAC, the cyclists’ political action committee, Eric McClure knows the winding, tortured paths of those processes all too well.  Eric’s decade-long tenure with StreetsPAC builds on his work as a co-founder of Park Slope Neighbors; First Vice Chair and Transportation Committee Chair for Brooklyn Community Board Six; and as a career communications entrepreneur and professional at Oasis Advertising, a company he co-founded in 1993 and sold in 2001.  Join us May 10 at Connolly’s (3rd floor) for deep dive with Eric into New York bike politics.
