Maybe I've missed this - what does the rating (1-5) assigned to each course in the Ride Library mean?
Ride Library - Ratings
Aha! We've been caught flat-footed.
We're in the process of coming up with an appropriate description for the ratings that will make all clear. But please be patient - it may still take a few months before we get that up and running. Meanwhile, just think of it this way: in general, the higher the rating, the hillier the route.
Yes, Carol, co-Ride Librarian, and I are rethinking metrics that we rate rides with. One "feature" of the website is that we can only list the ride as either an A, a B or a C. We cannot make mulitple listings. This is not helpful. So many rides are A/B or B/C yet we are forced to arbitrarily chose only one instead. As Carol said, 1 thru 5 isn't all that helpful without a more objective formula. While we sort these out, just browse the library and read destinations and descriptions. Go to a map and check out the route. The ride will be that much more enjoyable when you do your homework with the route.
A thought for what it's worth.
I took a look at the Library yesterday for a few momenets and noticed that there were not as many cue sheets as one would expect.
WAIT, STAY CALM.
What I mean is that the usual rides are there and variations of them.
Perhaps we could include some from perhaps, the various SIGS or maybe some of the other training series.
Even better, a shout out to some of the members to insert their favorite rides. I have been on 4 or so rides in the past 2 months that took me to areas that I have never been to.
Of course with sites such as Map My Ride or similar riders can find options but not with the insite of how this ride would compare to other club rides.
Robert
Yup, we'll be working on that, too. But Rome, as they say, wasn't built in a day. We'll get there. (And yes, we intend to hogtie some leaders and withhold their beer until they cough up their good routes.)
