As part of the club's 75th Anniversary Gala this summer, Ellen Jaffe and Christy Guzzetta asked me to join with Carol Waaser in doing video interviews of some long-time club members. A version of the video was shown at the gala itself (though with no audio in the rooms where most people may have seen the pictures rolling by).
It took a rather undue amount of time (I wanted to spend some time riding again!) to re-do some parts and then divide it into chunks small enough to upload. But it's now done, and I'm relieved that we're still in our 75th anniversary year.
In seven (!) parts, this features interviews with Michael Allison, Herb Dershowitz, Ed Fishkin, Christy Guzzetta, George Kaplan, Tony Mantione, Gary McGraime, Mike Samuel, Jody Sayler, Jeff Vogel, and Marty Wolf. There also are a whole bunch of still photos from the recent and more distant past.
It's not nearly as cleanly done as I would have liked, but sadly I'm not a professional and was just winging it. The point, if you can ignore the messiness of the production, is the history of the club, as seen through the eyes of these amazing club members. It was such an honor for me to hear and record their stories. And they do a tremendous job of capturing what we all so treasure about the New York Cycle Club.
Thanks to all of the interviewees for their time and enthusiasm for this project, and to Carol and Jody for doing the interviews themselves. Thanks also to all who supplied still photos.
