Note: Since this route was authored, a number of sections are less than bike friendly. Richmond Terrace and Hylan Blvd, to name a few. Extra caution is advised on this extensive tour of Staten Island.

A or B ride. Rating: 3 (5 for Olympic route) Take a looping path around the perimeter and into the interior of Staten Island. Cruise past some highlights of the borough including the Lighthouse, a Frank Lloyd Wright House, the beach, Ft Wadsworth and more. Also, check your medal potential on the proposed road race route for the NYC 2012 Olympic bid. Several of the island’s interior hills are included on this ride and the Olympic route has some very steep segments. A shortcut is possible on this route which cuts out 20 miles and avoids going far south to Tottenville and the Conference House. Olympic route starts and ends at the ferry. Tip: pick-up a free Staten Island bus map for reference before departing the ferry terminal. This ride is best on an early Sunday morning when traffic is light.

Route altered on access to Fort Wadsworth as improved roads since route was created.
