A suburban ride west to Maywood, NJ – a throwback to the '60s – and lunch at Rick’s Café. Pit stop at Milton Votee Park community center. Some rolling hills and one steeper but short hill 2 miles before lunch. Can be lengthened to 47 miles with start & end at Central Park Boat House. Good B or C ride. Nice winter ride, with short mileage and a good diner. This route zig-zags down the hill, but you can go directly down Palisade Ave. through Englewood to Tryon Ave.
Note: as of 1/12/13, Rick's Cafe is now Twin Door Tavern and not an appropriate lunch stop. Stop at Bakin' Bagels on the left as you come into town. Get a bagel to go, then continue on a couple of blocks to Moon Doggie coffee shop, also on the left - you can sit inside, eat your bagel and have great coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Also has a nice restroom. Or pick up lunch and continue onto Spring Valley Rd. a short distance to Memorial Park for picnic.
